Kingston SSD (NV / KC / Fury series)

Kingston's SSDs span value NV, mainstream KC, and performance Fury lines in both NVMe and SATA form. They run on the standard Windows NVMe or SATA driver, so no vendor operating driver is normally needed. Kingston's SSD management utility is where you check firmware and drive health, and it is the correct tool when a firmware update is called for.

How to tell this is what you have

  • Labeled NV, KC, or Fury
  • Firmware managed in Kingston's SSD utility

Worth knowing: Use Kingston's SSD management utility for firmware; standard NVMe/SATA drivers are used for operation.

DriverHub US does not host driver files or bundle an updater. This page documents the Kingston SSD (NV / KC / Fury series)family; its citations are selected from the package-source policy recorded for this family.

Package path for Kingston SSD (NV / KC / Fury series)

The family record names the matched device publisher as the package source. Match the package to the exact Kingston SSD (NV / KC / Fury series) device signals on this page and to Windows 10, Windows 11. A family name alone is not enough when the publisher separates packages by model, hardware revision, or PC configuration.

Use Kingston's SSD management utility for firmware; standard NVMe/SATA drivers are used for operation.

Shared identification, preparation, installation, verification, and rollback procedures are maintained on the complete storage & nvme guide, rather than repeated on every family page. The citations below follow this family’s declared vendor, Windows, PC-maker, or motherboard-maker source policy.

Samsung

Samsung NVMe Driver (970 / 980 / 990 series consumer SSDs)

This optional driver targets Samsung's consumer NVMe SSDs, the M.2 sticks in the 970, 980, and 990 lines, and can refine power management on those drives. Many systems run these drives perfectly well on the built-in Windows NVMe driver, so it is an optional install rather than a requirement. Firmware for the drive is applied separately through Samsung's own management software, not this driver.

Western Digital

Western Digital / SanDisk SSD (WD Blue, WD Black SN series)

This entry covers Western Digital and SanDisk SSDs, including the WD Blue and WD Black SN lines used in laptops and desktops. Most of these drives operate on the standard Windows NVMe driver, so the real value is the WD dashboard, which reports health and applies firmware. Use that tool for status and firmware rather than expecting a separate operating driver.

Seagate

Seagate SSD & HDD (BarraCuda, IronWolf, FireCuda)

Seagate makes both hard drives and SSDs across lines like BarraCuda, IronWolf, and FireCuda, found in desktops, NAS units, and gaming builds. These drives generally use the built-in Windows drivers to operate, while Seagate's toolkit handles firmware and health monitoring. Reach for the toolkit to check a drive's condition or apply firmware; day-to-day operation needs no special driver.

Intel

Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) controller driver

Intel Rapid Storage Technology is the controller driver for SATA and NVMe drives on Intel chipsets, and it is what enables RAID and rapid-storage features on those platforms. It matters most when you run an array or a caching configuration. On a laptop or prebuilt PC, prefer the OEM's packaged version of this driver, since it is validated for your exact system rather than being a generic build.

Intel

Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) driver

On some newer Intel platforms a controller mode called Volume Management Device sits in front of the NVMe drives, and Windows cannot see those disks unless this driver is present. That is why the Windows installer sometimes shows no drives until the VMD driver is loaded from a USB stick. OEM systems ship a matched version, so obtain it from your PC maker for your exact model.

AMD

AMD RAID / storage controller driver

This driver supports RAID configurations on AMD chipset storage controllers, and it is what keeps an AMD-platform array visible and healthy. It is only needed when you have set up RAID rather than running single drives. On a prebuilt system, obtain the OEM-provided version so it matches your platform; on a custom build, use the motherboard maker's RAID package for your board.
